A rupee has different values

Deepak got a rupee coin as change from the sweets he have bought. He examined the coin and put it in his pocket. The rupee has no value in his pockets. A 10 yrs old kid, who belongs to a rich family already has enough of what one can ever ask for. Being the only child, he gets everything on his plate at just a snap of his finger, unlike the beggar, he passes by.

The beggar spread his hands in front of him and looked at 10 years old with the hope that he will give him something. The only thing the 10 years had was the 1 rupee coin in his pocket. He recalled his mom's words " always help the needy". The ten years examined the beggar, debating whether he is needy or not, then finally decided to give him the coin. He took out the warm coin from his pocket and tossed it at the beggar's small bowl and walked away.

The coin's value changed. The coin which was insignificant in Deepak's pocket got its value. The small rupee coin brought a smile to the beggar's face and he whispered some blessings to Deepak. He had collected some 29 rupees from hustling since morning and wanted to have some food. Deepak's small coin helped him to reach a total of 30 rupees. Now he can buy some food and can stop his stomach from grumbling for some time.

He went to a nearby Dhaba and ordered a full plate meal. Although the meal costs somewhat 50 rupees he got it for just 30 rupees, as his situation warms the heart of the owner and he always tries to feed the hungry.

After finishing the meal he burped and went to the counter and paid his share of money whatever he earned from begging. "You have fine limbs and are fit and besides that, we need a waiter as well." The owner started "well how much do you make from begging?"

" Nothing much. Just can satisfy my hungry stomach." He replied bowing his head, as he knows very well how difficult it is for him to collect those money for his hungry stomach.

"Hmmm.." the owner  observed him from top to bottom.

"Papa"  Sonali - owner's daughter called.

" Yes beta" his attention shifted to his daughter from the beggar.

Sonali- a 19 years college student. Her exams are about a month far and it's time for registration. She asked her dad for the money for that purpose and he handed her some notes and some coins which included that one rupee coin as well. Sonali, a girl who belongs to a middle class family with lots of dreams in her eyes has somewhat value for that one rupee coin. She is neither rich like Deepak nor poor like the beggar. As a kid ,she mostly used to collect the coins which she would get and once her piggy bank got full she would exchange those coins for notes. But once she grew up she has stopped doing so.

She took the print out of her registration card and asked for xerox as well. She handed the rupee coin to Sameer. He slipped the coin inside his pocket

Sameer is the independent young man about 27 years and runs his own cyber cafe,he is planning to marry a girl and is really excited to meet his fiancée.

When the sun settled down and slowly the street light got lit up, he closed his cafe and left for his date with his fiancée. He hailed a cab and left. When he reached the restaurant, while taking out his wallet the coin fell and rolled over to the edge of the road.

The coin's journey came to an halt. The money which had its value and was travelling from one hand to another suddenly is not moving anywhere.

Days passed, no-one came except for dogs and some insects. Dogs smelled it and insects just walked over it. The coin again became insignificant, it seemed like the coin has its value only when it is in right hands. It can give immense happiness to some while not a single smile to others.

After a few weeks,a small dusky kid, with dirty clothes and a rag larger than his own body discovered the coin, his happiness knew no limit, as soon as he picked up the coin. He did a small happy dance and went to his mom to show it. His mom nodded continuing to  collect the plastic bottles from the garbage.

He instantly went to a nearby shop and asked for a rasmalai. He counted the money that he have collected from different sites and put it on the counters. As soon as he found rasmalai he went to a corner and enjoyed his rasmalai. He was craving for it for days and when he finally got it his happiness knew no limits.

While he was enjoying  the rasmalai and felt like eating in a 5 star restaurant, a boy with his mother passed by him, looking at him with pity eyes.

"Look Deepak, you should feel lucky, atleast you don't have a life like him." The  mother whispered to his son.
